Hida-Furukawa: may 2014

Staying in Takayama for two nights, we had time to check out Hida-Furukawa, a small town 15 minutes from Takayama by train.

Approaching the old parts of the town. It is a short walk from the station.

Koinobori are left hanging out for several weeks in this town. In other parts of Japan only on Children's Day

Furukawa is famous for the old street with a canal

Koi swim in the canal

A temple at one end of the old street

The parallel old street has no canal. You only need one or two hours to explore Furukawa, but it is a nice side-trip from Takayama nevertheless.

Nagoya, Osu Kannon Temple & Osu Shopping Arcade: July 2013

Osu Kannon Temple is a nice temple in Nagoya. There is no garden surrounding the temple, but apartments and a shopping arcade.

Nagoya Castle: July 2013

Pictures from my visit to Nagoya Castle. The castle unfortunately is a reconstruction from 1959, but still worth a visit if you are spending some time in Nagoya.

Currently the castle palace is being rebuild

A few parts can already be accessed and contain these beautiful wall panels.
